<\/figure>\n\n\n\nIt was March. A hike through the rough and slumbering gorge, the J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk Holes, was melancholic. In the Medzirozsutce saddle the dense white fog of the Mal\u00e1 Fatras rolled down and enveloped everything in silence. We only sensed Mal\u00fd Rozsutec Mountain, lurking, waiting, somewhere in front of us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, we found the marked hiking path which leads to its summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Returning, we lost ourselves in the forest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We rambled, sank into the snow, slipped on the ice. We were frozen solid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just before darkness touched the ground, we found the path along a stream which led us out of the snowy forest to Terchov\u00e1 village. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the main ridge of the Mal\u00e1 Fatra Mountains you won\u00b4t get lost. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When you start under the Starhrad Castle, the older brother of the famous Stre\u010dno Castle, hovering over the V\u00e1h river, you will feel its powerful magic wave which brings you to Z\u00e1zriv\u00e1 village. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
60 km away. In hiking boots, surmountable within three days, in running shoes, within one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our 25km hike started in \u0160tefanov\u00e1, a part of Terchov\u00e1, named after the Roman soldier, Terchius. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The green marked hiking path took us to the Medziholie saddle where we could see the ridge, reminiscent of a horse\u2019s back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The red marked hiking path headed to the 1,607 m high Stoh Mountains, once covered with forest, today grassy because of deforesting for sheep pastures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From the height of 1,600 m we descended to 1,300 m, only to climb again to the Polud\u0148ov\u00fd Gr\u00fa\u0148 Mountain through the tangles of blueberries and raspberries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Behind us we sensed Ve\u013ek\u00fd Rozsutec Mountain, a king of Mal\u00e1 Fatra Mountains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This monumental stony town where Juraj J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk, the Slovak hero, hid his treasure, is magical! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From Polud\u0148ov\u00fd Gr\u00fa\u0148 Mountain we continued up and down through the rolling stones to Chleb Mountain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There we admired views of two rounded green beauties, Mal\u00fd Kriv\u00e1\u0148 and Ve\u013ek\u00fd Kriv\u00e1\u0148 Mountains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We also prized a view of the turquoise-colored \u0160\u00fatovsk\u00e9 jazero lake, reminiscent of movies about the old west. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After landing, while waiting for our luggage in front of the belt at the airport, we always worry whether our luggage made the trip with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or if it maybe landed somewhere else and is sitting in a distant \u201cLost and Found Office\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While hiking in the mountains, we sometimes lost the marked path and found places incredible and unwilling beautiful, full of magic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each lost means a new found. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We often lose fear and anxiety. But we find bravery. More bravery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or maybe the biggest of all losses and founds is love. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
